Going Dental
Life right now is an interesting mix of "Hey, I could do that later!" and "Hey! I could do that Right Now if I wanted."

Yesterday was kind of a "Right Now" instant, as on Thursday afternoon I realized that I'd canceled a dental appointment while I was in Oakland, and I might as well do that Right Now, as my work's dental insurance is going to just last me until the end of April. So I called and asked if I could schedule something and they said, "How about 8am tomorrow?" I said, "Sure." Then I remembered that Jet might need a checkup, too, so I asked, "When did Jet last have his teeth checked?" "August, so he's due." "Do you have another slot?" "Uhm... it might not be so good for him, as it's at noon..." "Sure. We'll take that one, too." The great good thing about part-time kindergarten is being able to still schedule appointments for him whenever we choose.

Dang...
... Jet will now ride his bike in front of the house, but he now says that "my bike is too slow" for longer trips. *sigh* I was afraid that he'd heard me when I was complaining about how hard it is to ride behind him when he is so slow (given that the bike is tiny, straight 1:1 gear ratio, it pretty much can't be fast). I do regret what I said.

Not sure how to fix it.

I've been pretty sore from the fall since, and hobbling around work and getting short-tempered, which, with me, involves actually disagreeing with people when I disagree, rather than just holding on to it and regretting not saying things. Which is funny. My boss complimented me on disagreeing with him when I had some very valid arguments against what he was proposing.

I'm so glad of that. I need that kind of support in my path from passive-aggressive to being assertive. I just have to figure out a way to do it without being injured, first. Hee.

Another good thing today was that the lady that's now reporting to me said she was very, very happy to be working for me. Egoboo! Yay!

Crash!
Friday was fun. Jet and I mostly watched cartoons, and did stuff around the house. Spring has sprung and it's crazy warm. We had dinner at Ichi Ban's, and it was good.

Then we indulged in Jet's new craze: Blacklight Golf, a.k.a. Jungle Golf. It's just a mini-golf course with a few obstacles all painted in florescent paint, and with florescent painted golf balls and putters. Jet loves it. And he's actually quite competitive when he gets three shots to every two of John's and mine. He cheers wildly at anyone getting their ball in the hole, and he plays all 18 holes unflaggingly, running from green to green. It's a little hard on my eyes, but Jet had so much fun, it was great.

On the way home, he was playing with the chopsticks he'd gotten from Ichi Ban. He dropped one and he said, very, very cheerfully, "Whine whine! I dropped my stick!" and giggled. I died laughing. I have no idea where he got that from, but I loved it.

The rest of the weekend. )

Ride Sharing
John rode my bike to work this morning, and I dropped Jet off at pre-school with the car. So when John went to get Jet I got to ride my bike home. Now that is kind of fun.

I'm home alone again, and with advice from palinade and [info]silkiemom I went to a scrapbooking store and found two kinds of photo-safe stickum, a glue stick and a dispenser of little, clear, two-sided tape pieces that are square. Keen!

When I got home )
