Spoiled Son

Well... kinda, when I don't starve the boys. Our household has a tradition, on Friday mornings we almost always bake cinnamon rolls for breakfast. I usually set up the dough the night before and let it rise in the fridge and John usually does the baking when he gets up. I'm glad he's a morning person and I don't have to be. But last night, I found the roll of beignet dough in the freezer, so I pulled it out and stuck it in the refrigerator. So this morning we had beignets instead of cinnamon rolls. *grin*

But I was slow getting up. And Jet came and said he was STARVING, so could I come cook them? So I did and Jet helped by watching from very far away from the hot oil. They turned out really well, so the recipe does really freeze well, too. Yay and yummy. I make half the recipe as written and then just use half the next morning and freeze the other half... so for the three of us a quarter of the recipe makes plenty.

Uhm... hm. I've been writing a lot of Academy Ukitake Jyuushiro, and I haven't written Princess in a long time, but I'm thinking about her a lot. Ukitake's in my Twin Souls fic. Princess is in Kiss.

Please ignore the tag if you don't want to do it, but it was kinda fun and gave me a bit more thought about Princess than I knew before: crimini, calmingeffects, robotech_master. Anyone else that wants to be tagged, I'll happily do so.

New Toy

John decided cable was too expensive and given that I watch pretty much nothing directly off the TV other than Avatar (and I can buy a season's worth for the difference in cost just for one month) I was fine with him going to the Dish Network. Since we have a DH TV, he went and got the all-digital all the time network and it is pretty awesome. AND it costs about two-thirds what cable did. So... John's pretty happy.

It includes a DVR with service, so we're now doing all the things everyone else was doing a long time ago with Tivo. John really loves the advertisement skip. It's fun watching him pause it just because he can. *laughter*

amberley and shaterri have, between them, probably now loaned/given me enough anime to pretty much fill ALL my viewing time for the next while. *laughter* It's a good thing. Thank you, both, immensely.

One Redeeming Feature

They have a Kung-Fu station, that shows things like Legend of Foong Sai Yuk, Chinese Ghoststory (1, 2, and 3), and has Michelle Yeoh on a *LOT* of the time. Hmm... I could get hooked. Luckily the DVR records stuff, too. Hee.
