One of my favorite internet haunts is in danger

Partially lifted from gallo_de_pelea's eloquent plea as I'm out of words.

Y!gallery desperately needs a sysadmin versed in Debian Linux and md softraid or they will have to close down on February 14.

Laugh about yaoi fangirls, and yeah, sure... ah, whatever. But honestly, y-gallery has been one of the most welcoming and fun online communities I've ever participated in and I'm pretty fond of it and comfortable there. A lot of people have found their start there and the encouragement the folks there afford everyone has helped people gain self-confidence to strike out on their own.

Far, FAR more importantly, y-gallery is a haven for a number of artists and writers who have had to stay closeted in all other arenas, and it would be a shame if it dried up.

This I will add because I know way too many sysadmins. The staff and owner of the place aren't nearly as encouraging or quite as nice as the people who lend their creative talents to the contents of the site; but they have had to deal with the kinds of assholes that try to take advantage of such sites, so... more kudos to them. The code is stable from use, but I had a really hard time making heads or tails of it, and the site really shows a 'if you don't understand this, you don't need to do this' mentality. It's was done to the personality of the owner and it really shows.

The good news is that the site, the hosting, the database are all stable, and don't need a lot of maintenance, but they really do want someone that can be available any time.

So if you can help, follow the link above. It'll get you where you need to be.
